GENERAL INTRODUCTION

The wave of digital transformation has been having great impacts on almost every field, including multimedia. Digital communication was born from using digital technologies, which could be seen in intelligent systems and multimedia like the internet, software, mobile applications, social media, and other communication technologies to create, distribute and promote information, content, and products. Hence, the habit of accessing information of the mass is also changed. Follow by that, many new mediums and methods of communication are formed in strategies and 4.0 media thinking in order to serve the purpose of adapting and developing of agencies, units, organizations, and companies.

Innovative thinking and socialization in the field of producing media products are creating new identities as well as new challenges for the field of media, as well as media management in Vietnam and other countries. Professional communication activities also gradually change to the phase of fragmentation of the process of “concentration” of the public, shifting from mass communication channels (such as newspapers, television, radio, …) to personal communication channels. With the purpose of updating, spreading the precisest information to the community, connecting with people, and approaching other target audiences, the application of intelligent systems and multimedia to create new and interesting digital content on digital platforms becomes the main priority in communication strategies of agencies, organizations, and companies.

Nowadays, each person has the chance of becoming a “content creator” and posts directly on digital platforms. However, along with the conveniences, there are not a few challenges like fake news, unverified news, private information security, copyright issues… This partly creates a negative wave in public opinion and affects social development. Therefore, media professionals and managers in the current context need to be aware of digital thinking and digital cognition in the business of digital communication management to keep up with society’s new digital behaviors.
